Contracted power and how to avoid the penalty.

When your consumption peak exceeds the contracted power, a penalty is added to the bill. Gridea shows which metering points are at risk — before the penalty arrives.

Recommendation: raise the contracted power to 160 kW (+€14/mo) — you avoid the €340 penalty and also cover the winter peak. It pays for itself on the first overrun.

What is contracted power?

Each connection point has an agreed maximum power (kW). When the actual peak exceeds it, the grid operator treats it as an overrun and adds a penalty.

Why does the penalty surprise you?

A peak can occur in a single 15-minute window in a month — a moment the ordinary bill doesn’t show. Without continuous monitoring you only discover the overrun on the invoice.

How does Gridea help?

Gridea monitors each metering point’s actual peak and warns when it approaches the contracted limit. You see which points need a larger contract or load spreading.

Frequently asked questions

How does a power penalty arise?

When a metering point’s consumption peak exceeds the contracted power, the grid operator adds a penalty. Gridea flags overruns before they reach the invoice.

How do I avoid the penalty?

Either raise the contracted power, spread the load over time, or monitor peaks continuously. Gridea shows which solution is cheapest per metering point.

Does Gridea warn in advance?

Yes. Gridea tracks each metering point’s peak and signals when it approaches the contracted limit.
