the calc uses 2026 Estonian charges excl VAT — Elektrilevi Võrk 2 day rate, renewable-energy charge, supply-security charge and excise; the energy price is the slider. The netting gain comes from network fees and taxes that apply only to consumption. Your actual split is computed in the portal from your real 15-minute data.

Figures exclude VAT. For VAT-registered businesses VAT is not a saving; private individuals and non-VAT-liable entities save the VAT as well.

Net metering

Net metering — what changed on 1 August

On 1 August 2026 an amendment to the Electricity Market Act took effect: consumption points with a bidirectional meter are now billed on net metering data. Import and export are offset within each 15-minute period separately and then summed.

Periods totaling 24 kWh consumption and 21 kWh production yield 9 kWh net consumption and 6 kWh net feed-in — not 3 kWh. The difference is because offsetting is done within each period, not on monthly totals.

Across a portfolio of dozens of metering points and solar arrays, this 15-minute overlap arises differently at each point and can’t be worked out by hand. Gridea shows the net-metering effect per metering point.
